Dear Colleagues

I would like to update you on a number of issues which will be of interest to
members throughout Europe.

Since the formation of the IET in March 2006, a European Region has also been
formed. Twice yearly, the Chairs of all the member countries meet to work on
initiatives for the benefit of members and the engineering profession in
Europe. The last meeting was on 14 October 2006 and the next meeting will be
held in Prague in March 2007, you will find all the details on the web site at:
http://www.theiet.eu
Look under EuroExec > meetings > Malta
The Region also plays another important role; the IET has established a
Regional Representatives Committee (RRC, a sub-committee of the
Membership and Regions Board) with the objective of providing better membership
representation within the IET. There is now a route for you to make your voice
heard, via your local committee to the European Region and then to the RRC.
The next meeting of this committee will be in a week's time, so please let your
representatives know if there are any items which concern you.
This can either be via the contact page on the web site or by email to:
Joe Camilleri - Chair of EuroExec mailto:jcamilleri@theiet.org
Nicos Kouyialis - RRC representative mailto:nkouyial@eac.com.cy
Keith Parr - RRC representative mailto:keith_parr@planet.nl
We welcome your input on the issues which concern you about the IET in
your country.

Increasingly, we communicate with our members via email so I would encourage
you to keep your email address in our membership database up to date. I know
that there are a few members who want to stay in touch but do not use email; we
will do our best to keep them informed using paper based communication. If you
do use email but do not yet have an IET email alias, you might want to consider
applying for one. The email alias is free to members, provides IET recognition
and offers a stable contact address for all your email correspondence even if
your Internet service provider changes. To register for an IET alias you need
to go the following website:

http://www.theiet.org/membership/manage/alias/new.cfm

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
